Women Empowerment

Organizing people at single platform for collective action is pre-requisite for social development and women active participation at grass root level is first step for women social empowerment. In this context, women are mobilized and motivated to form their respective village development organizations (VDOs). It was from the ground of these VDOs that the women were to project their concerns and tribulations to be heard worldwide. Safwco gathers the support of all the local stakeholders in collaboration with the government departments to make the women empowerment a reality.

 

  • Since the establishment of Safwco, it has formed 3600 female Village Development Organizations (VDOs) with 109,410 female memberships
  • SAFWCO has provided leadership and CMST trainings to 12900 female members of VDOs.
  • 9 Peasant and Workers Groups (PWG) are formed with membership of 505 (252 male and 251 female). The salient issued raised and key information disseminated included:
  • Gender sensitizing programs were organized at Village / Taluka level
  • edia should play active role in gender sensitization issues
  • Law against the violence against women should be enforced
  • There should be complete ban on tribal courts (Jirgas)
  • Women should be given proper wages for their labor
  • Monitoring women rights and rural labor women should be treated equal to industrial works and benefits
  • Provided formal, non-formal and life skill based education to approximately 235,000 girls and women adults
